Himalayan Salt

Himalayan Rock Salt is believed to be one of the purest salts in the world, it contains over 84 trace elements and minerals and is believed to be over 250,000,000 years old.

It is not treated in any way with anti-caking agents or flow agents. It is not heat treated and is non-iodised. Iodised salt contains dextrose derived from alumino-silicate of sodium or yellow prussiate of soda. These desiccants, along with various bleaching agents made a refined salt little more than an industrial waste by product.

Himalayan Salt has many health benefits it can control water levels in the body regulating them for proper functioning, it also promotes a stable pH level in the cells, including the brain. It can also reduce the common signs of ageing. It can reduce cramps and bone strength. These are just some of the health benefits of the Himalayan Rock Salt.

The salt is derived from an ancient ocean, which evaporated and left these beautiful Salt caves at the foothills if the Himalayan Mountains. It was discovered in 320 BC by Alexandra the Greats’ troops, when they stopped for a rest. But it was not exactly the troops, the horses started licking the stones, some of them were ailing and recovered after licking the salt. Today the mines can produce up to around 350,000 tons per annum. The mines have been opened since 1872.
